A trend seems to be popping in this side of the metro. Several Hospitals in the vicinity will soon rise, minutes drive from each other, not to mention their proximity to other existing medical institutions.
This may sound like poor planning by responsible government agencies, but then again we assume that all feasibility studies were made and all necessary permits applied and approved.
I assume that there is indeed a necessity for medical services in this area.
I am an active internist-geriatrician at Marikina Valley Medical Center and Garcia General Hospital, both in Marikina. The said Hospitals are always in a state of FULL HOUSE.
A great number of patients in need of hospitalization are transferred daily to other institutions due to lack of vacancy.
The new Landmark of Marikina and Pasig will be Marikina Doctors Hospital and Medical Center which is expected to be completed sometime in 2012. It is a modern Tertiary Hospital with a 100 plus bed capacity with state of the art technology and equipments, not to mention its 8 minute walking distance to SM-MARIKINA....
